Andrea del Verrocchio, to whom he owes part of his excellent
multidisciplinary training.

In
1472 this period derives one of his first works known, the Landscape of the
valley of the Arno a drawing made with pen and ink. This was how he began his
career as a painter with works already outstanding such as The Annunciation

Youth |
In September 1513, Leonardo da Vinci
went to Rome, where he worked for Pope Leo X, Leonardo received only modest
orders and seems not to have participated in the construction of the numerous
Roman fortresses, Beautification of the capital. Neither was his painting
successful and took refuge in another specialty, perhaps his favorite, the
hydraulics, and realized a project of drying of the Pontine Lagoons

Maturity
|
On
April 23, 1519, Leonardo, who had been ill for several months, wrote his will
before a notary at Amboise. He asked a priest for confession and receive
extreme unction. He died on May 2, 1519 in Cloux, at the age of 67 years.
Tradition tells that he died in the arms of Francis I, but probably this is
based on an erroneous interpretation of an epigraph written by Giorgio
Vasari.
